Grants.gov
The ORSP does not require PIs to register with Grants.gov to submit a grant proposal, however, you may need to use Grants.gov to obtain a particular agency's forms.
The federal funding opportunities that are published on the Grants.gov website are for organizations sustaining the evolution and progress of government-funded programs and projects.
About Grants.gov
The Grants.gov program management office, est. 2002 and governed by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), is an e-Government enterprise operating under the governance of the Office of Management and Budget. The general purposes of Grant.gov are as follows:
- Unifies more than 1,000 different grant programs across federal grant-making agencies.
- Regulates grant information, application packages, and procedures for locating and applying for federal grants.
- Restructuring the federal grants process by removing the intricate navigation processes prior used to find and apply for federal grants.
- Produces faster, easier, and more cost-effective methodology for grant applicants to electronically interact with federal grant-making agencies.
York College and Grants.gov
While York College is a Grants.gov registered organization that handles most grant submissions (whether public or private), there are exceptions for any grants awarded directly to an individual PI.
- For individual awards, PIs will need to register with Grants.gov (please inform the ORSP if you gave a Grants.gov account with another institution so we may migrate your information); PIs will also need to use Grants.gov to obtain the given agency’s application form(s) and instructions for the particular grant.
Note: The forms for these individual grants change often, therefore, please be sure to download the correct application for the program you are applying for. In addition, all Grants.gov forms are in Adobe Acrobat - as such, please generate your forms in PDF format (using Adobe Acrobat or an online PDF-generating software).
York College and SAM.gov
The System for Award Management (SAM.gov) is a U.S. government platform used to secure and navigate the federal award cycle. SAM.gov is used to ensure that PIs are eligible to partcipate in a federal extramural funding opportunity.
Please note: The ORSP is already registered in SAM.gov. As such, PIs do not need to register in SAM.gov. If your grant requires information pertaining to SAM.gov, or if you have any questions regarding SAM.gov, please reach out to the Grants Officer or contact us at x2061.
If you have any further questions or concerns about the institution being registered with Grants.gov, please reach out to the Grants Officer, or feel free to contact us at x2061; otherwise, you can also take a look at the Grants.gov Applicant Registration Page. Please refer to the ORSP FAQ section to access identification numbers or codes that are necessary for your application, e.g., the Unique Entity Identifier (UEI).
