English Proficiency Workshops

The Free Fully-Online English Proficiency workshop is for students who are not certified as English proficient based on their high school and/or academic records and need to be certified in order to enroll at York.

Workshop Details

All Workshops Are Free
Workshops contain homework, assignments and three in-person exams
Workshops typically run for two weeks, 10 days, Mondays to Fridays, days or evenings
Workshops typically run from June to July for fall semester enrollment and from January for spring.
Passing the workshop is based on attendance, completion of assignments and the average of graded essays

Summer 2026 English Proficiency Workshop Offering

June 8 to June 23, Monday to Thursday, 6:00 - 10:30 pm, Daily mandatory online live sessions from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM with your instructor. Online work—including homework, assignments, and lessons—to be completed independently on your own time.

Exams: Three required in-person exams at York Campus (No makeup exams will be offered)

Exam 1: Thursday, June 11, 2026
Exam 2: Thursday, June 18, 2026
Exam 3: Tuesday, June 23, 2026

July 13 to July 24, Monday to Friday, 1:00 - 5:30 pm, Daily mandatory online live sessions from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM with your instructor. Online work—including homework, assignments, and lessons—to be completed independently on your own time.

Exams: Three required in-person exams at York Campus (No makeup exams will be offered)

Exam 1: Thursday, July 16, 2026
Exam 2: Tuesday, July 21, 2026
Exam 3: Friday, July 24, 2026

Workshop Completion: Workshop cannot be passed without taking the three required in-person exams
