Itchy Palms
Dear Cardinals,
I grew up in the islands, where I was taught if your palm started itching, that meant money was coming… but only if it was the correct palm. The wrong palm? That meant you were about to spend money, not receive it. And if you saw a green grasshopper, the whole neighborhood would agree: “money is on the way!”
Then there were the dreams: If you had a dream about fish, it meant someone is pregnant. And dreaming about birds meant news is coming from far away. Some folks call these things old wives’ tales and chalk it up to superstition. Some swear they’re true.
Here at York our signs aren’t superstitions. They’re real.
Like when you get an A or B on a quiz or test that’s not luck — that’s as sign you studied, completed all your assignments, participated in class, and took advantage of academic tutoring.

And since it’s midterm season, let’s talk about another sign: If your palm starts sweating the moment that exam hits your desk, it might be a sign that you didn’t study enough, missed a few too many classes, skipped some assignments, failed to participate in class, or decided not got get tutoring assistance. Don’t ignore that sign use it to do all the things you need to do to finish the semester strong.
As for me, this week, I’ll be dreaming of birds and all the good news they will bring!
Good news about your midterms.
Good news about your progress.
And good news that registration for the fall semester is officially open! Remember V-READY will get you SET for the Fall Semester or connect with your academic or faculty advisor in-person.
Cardinals register early and secure your seat, but first secure your future by knocking your midterms out of the park.
Wishing you the best of luck,
President Schrader
