Time, Care Work, and Faculty Working Conditions

Honors Program presents a seminar in Time, Care Work, and Faculty Working Conditions by Dr. Robinson of the English Department

While care work is often undervalued in our academic cultures because of its categorization as "women's work", care work is at the core of what we, as educators, do. But care takes time. In this talk, I consider how faculty working conditions would change if the time that educational care work takes was centered in our narratives of success. How would our institutions change? How would our students benefit? And how would faculty stress be reduced by reframing what we think of as "productivity" in higher education to include care?
