Register to Attend

Tassel is a registration system that informs us whether you plan to attend and cross the stage at Commencement. Most importantly, it is used to distribute digital tickets.

The Tassel registration process is a two-step process. The first step is to apply for graduation. If you have not yet applied for graduation through CUNYFirst, then you will not get a Tassel email. Please make sure that you are checking your York College email address (@Yorkmail.cuny.edu)

The second step is to register for Tassel, using the email link sent to you. After you have applied for graduation, and been certified by the registrar’s office, you will receive an email to participate in the 2025 graduation ceremony. You will receive this email in April.

You will receive this email with the link to log into your personal Tassel portal, please create your slide. Your slide will include your name, degree and latin honors. For your name to be shown on the screen, it is mandatory that you correctly complete your Tassel registration. Your name will be shown when you cross the stage and announced by a voice actor during the ceremony, based on your Tassell recording of how it is pronounced phonetically. Please speak clearly and slowly when saying your name in the system.
