Register to Attend & Share Tickets
Tassel is a registration system that informs us whether you plan to attend and cross the stage at Commencement. Most importantly, it is used to distribute digital tickets.
The Tassel system opens Mar 16 and the deadline to register is May 2, 2026. You will receive an email from Commencement@york.cuny.edu to your CUNY Prefered email address. Please follow the prompts.
1- Apply for Graduation
The Tassel registration process is a two-step process. The first step is to apply for graduation. If you have not yet applied for graduation through CUNYFirst, then you will not get a Tassel email. Please make sure that you are checking your York College email address (@Yorkmail.cuny.edu) and CUNYfirst Prefered email address.
2- Register to Attend
The second step is to register for Tassel, using the email link sent to you. After you have applied for graduation, and been certified by the registrar’s office, you will receive an email to participate in the graduation ceremony. You will receive this email in the spring semester.
You will receive this email with the link to log into your personal Tassel portal. For your name to be shown on the screen, it is mandatory that you correctly complete your Tassel registration. Your name will be shown when you cross the stage and announced by a voice actor during the ceremony, based on your Tassell recording of how it is pronounced phonetically. Please speak clearly and slowly when saying your name in the system.
3- Share Tickets
Once you complete the Registration portion in Tassel, you can share five (5) tickets with your friends and family, graduates don’t need tickets.
We understand that you may be eager to secure tickets, beyond the tickets which you will receive from the College, for your family and friends, but we wanted to remind you that York College prohibits the selling of commencement tickets. Any attempt to sell tickets may result in disciplinary action.
We want to ensure that the commencement ceremony is a fair and enjoyable experience for all graduates and their families.
