Enrolling in a College Now Class

In order to enroll in a College Now class, students must first contact the College Now liaison or representative at their high school. That person will have the College Now application, which must be filled out with the high school representative, who will then submit the application to the college.

Applying to College Now & FRNYC

College Now and FRNYC students must complete the application process each semester they wish to participate. There are two application pathways, depending on whether you have previously taken a college course through any CUNY campus.

Have you previously taken a college course through CUNY?

NO = Follow Pathway 1: New to CUNY
YES = Follow Pathway 2: Previous CUNY Student

Important: For both application pathways, we strongly recommend using a personal email address instead of your DOE or high school email. Follow-up communications may not reliably reach school email accounts. Missing these messages could mean missing important deadlines, registration details, course updates, or required next steps.

Pathway 1: New to CUNY

I Have Never Taken a CUNY College Course!

If you have never taken a college course through CUNY, you will need to complete the Unified College Now Application.

Once you have clicked the link, you will be brought to the page below. You will need to select “College Now”, then answer “No” to the subsequent question, then proceed to select “York College”.

College Now Summer & Fall 2026 Registration Information

Once you have clicked the “Next” button you will be prompted to register for an application portal account. Please be advised that you will need to use an email you can instantly access because you will be sent a “OTP” or one time passcode to verify your identity.

You will first enter your biographical and personal information. No Social Security number? You can still participate in College Now! Simply indicate on your application that you do not have a Social Security number. CUNY will assign you an External ID, which serves as your CUNY identification number and is linked to your student record. If you later obtain a Social Security number, you can update your CUNY record.

A form section requesting the applicant to provide their Social Security Number or check a box if they do not have one.

After entering your biographical information, you will be prompted to indicate the course(s) you are interested in taking. Your selections depend on why you are completing the application:

A. I want to take a College Now course at York College.
Select the York College courses you wish to take, in order of preference.

B. I am completing the application to obtain a CUNY student ID number (EMPLID) for a course offered through my high school.
If you are only completing the application to obtain a CUNY EMPLID so that you can participate in a College Now course offered through your high school, select only:

HIST 333 – Deception & Strategy in the Trojan War

This selection is used for the application process. It does not mean that you are registering to take HIST 333.

This is what you will see:

Once you have picked your course(s) click “Save”, then “Next” and complete the remaining questions. After you have done so you will be prompted to “Submit”. Be sure to not reload or refresh the page!

Once your application goes through you will get an application summary and on the bottom left-hand corner you will see your “EMPLID” number. Make sure to SAVE it and share the number with your school counselor or program coordinator.

Pathway 2: Previous CUNY Student

I Have Previously Taken a CUNY College Course!

Because you already have a CUNY student record, you will follow this pathway rather than completing the Unified College Now Application as a new CUNY student.

When you click on the Unified College Now Application link you will be brought to the page below. You will need to select “College Now”, then answer “YES” to the subsequent question, then proceed to select “York College”.

You will then be redirected to a Microsoft-powered form. Complete the form with the requested information and then click “Submit”.

Select up to 2 courses in order of preference. Your first choice will receive priority if space is available. If your first choice is full, your second choice will be considered. If both courses are full, we’ll contact you about other available options.

Be sure to inform your school counselor or program coordinator that you have applied. This way everyone is aware and you can avoid taking a course that may conflict with your schedule or a previously taken course.
