CUNY Language Immersion Program (CLIP) Program Registration Information

Eligibility

To enroll in CLIP, all new students must first apply to and be admitted into a CUNY college.

General Registration

All Students* are required to attend one  in-person Registration/Orientation session for the semester in which they plan to enroll.

Please review the dates listed under Orientation and Testing Session Dates and choose one (1) session that fits your schedule.

Appointments are required for all sessions.

Important Reminders

  • All NEW students must complete registration and take the CLIP placement tests on the same day.
  • Returning students who skipped one cycle or more must register and take the CLIP placement tests again.

Before Your Registration Date

Please complete these steps before arriving for registration:

  1. Schedule an appointment with Mrs. Claudia Hortua.
  2. Create a Gmail account dedicated solely to your CLIP academic work.
    • Your Gmail MUST follow this format: firstname.lastname.clip@gmail.com 
      • Use only letters - no numbers
      • Separate each part with a period (.) Example: carlos.lopez.clip@gmail.com
  3. You will use this Gmail account to:
    • Communicate with your teacher and the CLIP office
    • Join and submit assigments through Google Classroom
  4. Need help creating your new Gmail account? Contact us - your new Gmail must be created before orientation day.

On the Day of the Registration

Please come prepared:

  • Arrive on time.
  • Bring
    • A valid photo ID
    • Payment by Money Order Only
  • Plan to stay for about 3 hours (Registration and Placement Testing will be compleate during the same visit.)

Spring 2026 Session Starts January 26th to June 9th

What You Should Expect - Spring 2026

  • Spring 2026 classes are In-Person. This cycle will start on January 26th, 2026 and end on June 9th, 2026 (16 weeks)
  • Schedule: Morning Program: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm. Evening Program: 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm
  • You will be meeting your instructor five (5) days a week in the classroom. Outside of class, you will be expected to complete all the assignments and projects each week.
  • All Spring payments must be in money order only. Payment must be received by Friday, January 23rd, 2026 by 4:00 pm.

Fees - Spring 2026

  • $180 for those who meet NYS one-year residency requirement
  • $450 for those with less than the one-year NYS residency requirement
  • $45 for students on Public Assistance, or in the SEEK or College Discovery programs
