York College's STEM Career Advisement and Research Engagement (STEM-CARE) Program

About STEM-CARE

A U.S. Department of Education’s Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program (MSEIP) grant was awarded to the City University of New York at York College in the Fall of 2022. The goal of MSEIP is "to increase participation, retention, and graduation rates of underrepresented, particularly women, in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields". To support this effort the program entitled “Developing STEM Workforce through Career Advisement and Research Engagement” or STEM-CARE was developed here at York College. STEM-CARE aims to provide 27 qualified degree majors from the Departments of Biology, Chemistry, Biology and Earth and Physical Sciences, career advisement, research or on-field training opportunities, academic enrichment activities, and some financial assistance to assure their success and facilitate their transition into a STEM career.
