York College, CUNY offers a host of support services and learning resources to help enhance the academic process of scholars.

Support Services 

The York College Division of Student Development specific services include services through, Center for Students with Disabilities Academic Core Building, Counseling Center, Men’s Center, SEEK Program, TRIO Support Services Program, Tutoring Services, Veterans Affairs Office, and Women’s Center. Library Support Services

York Library provides a broad and current collection of print and electronic materials to support the mission and curriculum of the College’s Social Work Program. Faculty of the Library and the Social Work Departments collaborate to maintain a relevant collection that meets the research needs of scholars and faculty and prepares scholars for fieldwork, advanced study, and careers. Overall Library holdings include 150,000 printed books; 38 print periodical subscriptions (including the journal Social Work and five major newspapers); 588,000 e-books, 201 licensed databases, and over 130,000 subscription and open access online journals, newspapers, and popular magazines. York College’s scholars and faculty have borrowing privileges at all CUNY libraries (except CUNY Law School), whose cumulative print holdings exceed 6.2 million volumes housed in 31 libraries. Equipment Technology Support

MSW Scholars have the opportunity to use a variety of modalities (e.g., Blackboard, Blackboard Collaborate, CUNYFirst, ConnectCUNY, ZOOM, Go-To-Meet, ASWB’s Group Review Practice Test Software Program, virtual simulation, case studies, videos, Structured Immersive Simulation Training that includes pre-simulation briefing and debriefing to reinforce course instruction. Access to the various software also helps faculty to train and prepare scholars for licensure and the exams and supervisor training. During COVID-19, scholars who express a need will receive technology devices for Distance Learning and hotspot access.

In addition, the York Campus IT environment is comprised of 2,200 desktop computers and 200 networked printers and printer/copiers installed in 33 Computer Labs, the York Library, and approximately 850 classrooms and office spaces within six buildings. The five buildings surrounding the Academic Core Building all connect to the Academic Core for voice and data services via the College’s data network, which is made up of 110 Cisco 3750 distribution switches and two highspeed Cisco 6509 Core Switches that connect to the data centers and the College’s network perimeter for external University and Internet services.

All scholars across CUNY pay a technology fee to fund the purchase of technology equipment, software licenses, and personnel and technology support services to ensure students have access to technology and the ability to use it to enhance their learning experiences. Revenues from the fee are retained by the College and contribute significantly to the College’s ability to provide state-of-the-art upgrades and other support to meet the ever-increasing demands of the campus community.
