"Overcoming ABC transporter-mediated multidrug resistance in cancers"

Multidrug resistance (MDR), a phenomenon by which cancer cells acquire resistance to a variety of chemotherapeutic drugs, has been an obstacle to the success of cancer chemotherapy. Our research focuses on exploring the mechanisms and novel therapeutic targets associated with MDR in solid tumors and hematological malignancies. Through our well designed in silico, in vitro and in vivo experiments, we have made ground breaking discoveries in exploring novel natural inhibitors, such as Beta-elemene, cepharanthine and epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) derivatives; small molecular tyrosine kinase inhibitors, PDE5 inhibitors, affecting to ABC transporter mediated-MDR cancers. Findings from our studies lay foundation for the rationale use of combinational cancer chemotherapy in clinics.
