S-STEM Social Event - Movie Day - "The Imitation Game" This biographical movie showcased the remarkable story of Alan Turing, a brilliant mathematician who helped crack the Nazi Enigma code during World War II. The event was attended by the S-STEM team and mentors, adding a touch of math and computer science excitement.	October 20, 2023
S-STEM Scholar Welcome and Networking Event for Fall 2023	September 8, 2023
S-STEM Alum Panel Discussion - "What I Wish I Knew Before I Interviewed For..." The panel featured alumni from both the Math and Computer Science disciplines. Students had the opportunity to learn from their experiences in preparing for internships and job applications.	May 11, 2023
Converge, The First Annual York College STEM Day Co-organized with the Queens Experiences in Discrete Mathematics (QED) REU Program and the New York State Education Department STEP Program at York College. The day featured a keynote speech by Dr. Sylvester "Jim" Gates, a National Medal of Science winner and former Obama advisor. It also included poster presentations from members of the QED REU and the S-STEM Scholars Program.	April 28, 2023

End of the Semester Celebration: Co-organized with the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at York College. The is a networking event for our S-STEM Scholars. 3 S-STEM scholars, 3 S-STEM mentors as well as our administrative assistant attended.	December 11, 2025.
The 2025 S-STEM Scholars Meeting was by invitation only. Principal Investigators nominate scholars from their programs, and only selected scholars are permitted to attend. Two York College students attended and presented posters Four York College S-STEM Scholars attended the three day 2025 S-STEM Scholars Meeting in San Diego from October 2–4, 2025. The event brought together more than 1000 S-STEM scholars and mentors from across the country to share research, exchange ideas, and strengthen the growing S-STEM community.	October 02 - 04
S-STEM Scholar Welcome and Networking Event for Fall 2025. Six S-STEM scholars participated.	September 16, 2025
Converge25: A two-day conference event held at York College. Sponsored by the QED and S-STEM programs. The event brought together young researchers and scholars from the QED REU programs, S-STEM Scholars, and other related initiatives. The keynote talk, “Mentoring that Uplifts Amidst Circumstances that Destroy: Claytor, Malone-Mayes, and the True Legacy of R. L. Moore,” was delivered by Dr. Edray Goins. Six S-STEM scholars presented posters showcasing their research, projects, or internship experiences. The event provided valuable opportunities for students to network and connect with peers who share similar interests in STEM. Students also received constructive feedback from faculty mentors and peers, helping them refine their work and build confidence in presenting their findings. Eight S-STEM scholars participated, and the event was attended by over 50 participants.	May 8–9, 2025
Four S-STEM scholars presented their research at the Emerging Researchers National (ERN) Conference in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). The ERN Conference is an annual event hosted by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) and the National Science Foundation (NSF) Division of Equity for Excellence in STEM (EES). It is held for undergraduate and graduate students who participate in NSF-funded programs including S-STEM. The conference typically includes student poster and oral presentations, workshops on graduate school and career preparation, guidance on finding research and international opportunities, and sessions designed to build skills in science presentation and networking. S-STEM Workshop on AI and Adobe Express. Speaker: Dr. Shauna Chung, Adobe Pedagogical Evangelist and former English faculty at New York City College of Technology (CUNY). Several faculty members and STEM majors attended this workshop, which focused on using generative AI and Adobe Express templates to create flyers, presentations, videos, résumés, and other digital materials. S-STEM Workshop on S-STEM Mentor/Scholar Research. Title: “Form Uniqueness on Graphs”. Presenters: Dr. Radek Wojciechowski and Luis Hernandez (Math Major, QED, and S-STEM Scholar). Faculty and CS/Math majors attended the event. The event was co-organized with the Math and Computer Science Department’s Math/CS Seminar Series.	March 18, 2025.
S-STEM Workshop on Internship. Title: " My CS Internship Experience " Presenter: Ayani Bilal, CS Major Student. Three S-STEM scholars participated. Faculty and other CS majors also attended the event. The event was co-organized with the Math and Computer Science Department’s Math/CS Seminar Series.	March 11, 2025
S-STEM Seminar by Guest Speaker: Title: "Efficient and Trustworthy Edge-Assisted Learning on AIoT Devices". Presenter: Dr. Sucheng Yu from Stevens Institute of Technology. Nine S-STEM scholars participated. Faculty and other CS majors also attended the event. This seminar was co-organized with another NSF-funded program, the York CISE Program.	February 25, 2025
