Accreditations

Educational accreditation is a type of quality assurance process under which services and operations of an educational institution or program are evaluated by an external body to determine if applicable standards are met. When these rigorous standards are met, accredited status is granted by the agency.

York College is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the Association of Colleges and Universities of the State of New York, the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

All education programs are registered by the New York State Department of Education and lead to New York State provisional certification after the written parts of the New York State Teacher Certification Examination are passed.

York's Occupational Therapy Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). The Physician Assistant Studies Program (P.A. Program) is accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant, Inc.

York's Social Work program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education; and the Nursing Program by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). A degree in Accounting from York includes all the educational requirements to sit for the Uniform Certified Public Accounting exam.
