Office of Veterans Affairs
York College's Office of Veterans Affairs (OVA) strives to promote community awareness of the sacrifices that Veterans have made. Our Veterans, their families, and dependents are made fully aware of all benefits and privileges for which they qualify. York's OVA works to advocate by representation and support in obtaining benefits, educational entitlements, and recognition they have earned in service to our Country. As a component of the Division of Student Development, OVA plays a supporting role in the development and implementation of educational and developmental mechanisms designed to position the College with veteran and military affiliated organizations and agencies. The Veterans Counselor and School Certifying Official (SCO) provides academic program information, benefit and education counseling, referral to essential agencies, and certifies eligible students to receive education benefits under various state and federal programs.
- Promote Office of Veterans Affairs(OVA) services and educational opportunities at York College.
- Support student veterans engagement in the college community.
- Collaborate with other institutions to create post-graduate opportunities for student veterans.
- Identify career opportunities for student veterans.
- Connect student veterans with scholarship opportunities.
We believe Veterans are exceptional individuals who deserve our proficient, dynamic, and compassionate advocacy in return for their service. Veterans have earned our respect and are our reason for existence on campus. They are our common purpose and all of our efforts are directed toward meeting their needs.
