Bachelor of Science, Social Work Graduating Class ‘2009
Erroll Davidson Jr. is a visionary leader, educator, and advocate committed to transforming the educational landscape for students with special needs. As an Assistant Principal in NYC Public Schools, he works tirelessly to create inclusive learning environments that empower students to thrive academically and socially. With a career spanning child welfare, social work, and education, Erroll has dedicated his life to breaking down barriers and ensuring equitable opportunities for all children. His journey from a standout student leader at CUNY York College to a respected administrator reflects his passion for service, lifelong learning, and unwavering commitment to community impact.
As a proud alumnus of CUNY York College, class of 2009, there have been many successes that served as a foundation to his evolving professional career. While enrolled as a full-time evening student at York College, Erroll maintained academic excellence as a Dean’s Lists scholar and graduated Magna Cum Laude. In his senior year he worked as a College Assistant, where he tutored fellow peers in various behavioral science courses. Erroll was one of two male Child Welfare Scholarship recipients who interned with the New York City Administration for Children’s Services. He was an active member of the Social Work Club during his academic tenure at York College. In his final year he served as the Social Work Club Treasurer and designed the club’s first polo shirt. As a member of the Student Government Association, Erroll advocated for students rights on campus. Seeing the impact that student voices had on campus, he along with his fellow classmates in the social work department, with the support and mentorship of Dr. Selena T. Rodgers, PhD, LCSW-R, traveled to Albany, NY and lobbied for a much needed Master of Social Work (MSW) Program.
Under the guidance and leadership of Dr. Jonathan Quash, PhD, Erroll was inducted into the Beta Chapter of Pi Eta Kappa at York College, the academic fraternity and honor society for urban males. Upon graduating from York College, he continued his studies at Fordham University, where he obtained his Master of Social Work in 2010. Having worked with youth in child welfare and being a strong educational advocate, Erroll decided to apply to the NYC Teaching Fellows program where he obtained his Master of Science for Teachers at Pace University in 2019. Reflecting on his academic achievements, he knew his impact on children, families, and communities in which they live had to continue. Erroll then earned his Master of Education in Leadership and Administration from the College of St. Rose in 2021, with academic distinction. As a life learner, his quest for knowledge remains stronger than ever before. Erroll will be applying to an educational doctoral program as he embarks on yet a new chapter in his continuously evolving career.
Erroll is also a proud member of the Beta Psi Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Incorporated, where he actively serves the communities of Westchester County and the Bronx, NY.
"I want to thank the entire Social Work department at York College. From the main office staff for always greeting me with a smile to the faculty and professors for always making time to offer guidance on projects, research proposals, and internship and career opportunities. My experience at York College was truly memorable and I am forever grateful. Thank you!" said Erroll, Jr.
