Dr. David Hornung is an Assistant Professor in the Department of social work. He holds and MSW and PhD in Social Welfare from Stony Brook University. His dissertation, entitled, “Thinking Beyond Bootstraps: Conservative Intellectuals and the Attack on the Welfare State” examined the role conservative public intellectuals have played in welfare state retrenchment in the United States. Before Coming to York Dr. Hornung worked as the Legislative Director for the Deputy Majority Leader in the New York State Assembly. Dr. Hornung also worked in clinical settings, serving over two years as a Behavior Intervention Specialist for individuals with developmental disabilities. Dr. Hornung’s research interests focus on social policy, race, economic inequality, labor issues, and community organizing.
