The Passing of Alumnus and Former Public Safety Chief Forte

With our deepest sympathy and regret, we inform our community of the recent passing of former Campus Public Safety Chief and alumnus Tyrone Forte at the age of 58.

Chief Forte, a proud York College alum and a veteran of both the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Army National Guard, went on to serve at NYS Corrections before joining our CUNY Public Safety Department in 1997. He progressed as a NYC Special Patrolman with special assignments as a member of the SAFE Team, EMT, and Bike Patrol. Additionally, he achieved the highest leadership ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant, and eventually served as a two-time Campus Security Director at York College and then at Kingsborough Community College until 2016.

The Public Safety Department and the York College community extend our posthumous appreciation to Chief Forte for his dedicated service to our institution. Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched.
