Prof. Tung Releases New Doc: 'Bigger is Better'
The film is about the identity culture and body politic of the bear subculture within a larger gay male community in Asia. It takes the audience to Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and China to meet with stakeholders and examines the development of this unique subculture and its meaning and impact. The film received support from CUNY's Faculty Fellowship Publication Program in Spring 2021. It had its U.S. premiere in September at the Palm Springs LGBTQ Film Festival, and is also scheduled to screen at the OMOVIES Film Festival in Napoli, Italy in December, and Seattle Asian American Film Festival next March.
