Dr. Juana Ramos to be Featured at the 18th Hispanic/Latino Book Fair in Queens, NY

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the 18th Hispanic/Latino Book Fair in Queens will be dedicated to the Salvadoran writer Dr. Juana M. Ramos, a Spanish and literature professor at York College/City University of New York (CUNY).

Dr. Ramos is not just a poet, researcher, essayist, and cultural activist, she is a shining example of dedication and commitment. Her six poetry books, a collection of short stories, and a book of essays, all stand as a testament to her unwavering passion for literature. In co-authorship, she has published a book of testimonies and one of poetic prose. In 2021, she received the Feliks Gross Award, granted by CUNY, in recognition of her extraordinary work as a professor and researcher in the field of humanities.

Dr. Ramos' contributions to Salvadoran poetry have not gone unnoticed. She was recognized by the Chifurnia Foundation as Poet of the Year 2023 in El Salvador, a testament to her significant impact on the literary landscape.

The fair, taking place at Renaissance Charter School, 35-59 81 St., Jackson Heights, is in its 18th consecutive years and is free and open to the community on the following dates: Friday, October 11, Saturday, October 12, and Sunday, October 13, 2024. Dr. Ramos will present her bilingual poetry book, Clementina, published by The Hispanic/Latino Cultural Center of New York.
