Dr. Khandaker Featured in the AEG Member Spotlight

York professor, Dr. Nazrul Khandaker, has been recognized in the Association of Environmental and Engineering Geologists' "Spotlight."

The organization's popular feature, which honors highly accomplished professionals in geology, couldn't have selected a more worthy "star" than Professor Khandaker, who also regularly takes students on field digs, is a beloved mentor and colleague at York.

Widely published in his field, Dr. Khandaker "utilizes field and geochemical studies to characterize and interpret a variety of geological systems. Khandaker worked as a geotechnical consultant (2001-2008) for the Water Tunnel #3: the largest capital construction project in NYC; facilitated soil and rock core characterization; compiled petrographic, geochemical, and geotechnical reports, based on ASTM Standards."

In 2018, Khandaker was recognized for lifetime career service to the Geological Society of America (GSA), particularly in GSA initiatives supporting international participants, women, minorities, and students. He is a GSA Fellow, Certified Professional Geologist (State of Wyoming), and director of the NASA MUREP K1-12 STEM Program (2015-Present).
