Dean White Serves as Commentator at ASALH Conference

Kudos to Dr. George White, Jr., History professor and Interim Dean of the York College School of Arts and Sciences!

Dr. White recently served as Commentator on a panel of the 106th Annual Meeting of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH). According to Professor White, ASALH is the “largest and oldest scholarly organization dedicated to the interdisciplinary study of Black people.”

The University of Virginia Press, which sponsored the panel, “Won’t You Celebrate with Me: The Black Family through the Black Military Experience,” used the opportunity to also promote its new book series, “The Black Soldier in War and Society: New Narratives and Critical Perspectives.” The new series is edited by Le’Trice Donaldson (Texas A&M-Corpus Christi); Holly Pinheiro, Jr. (Furman University) and proudly, York’s Dr. George White, Jr.

In addition to his Ph.D., Dr. White also has a J.D. from Harvard Law School and has taught not only courses in History, but courses or portions of courses on the impact of the American legal system on society, as well.
