BSW Program Eight-year Accreditation Reaffirmation

The Commission of Accrediation (COA) and Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) recently voted to reaffirm accreditation of York College's BSW Program.

The Commission of Accrediation (COA) and Council of Social Work Education (CSWE) in relation to the reaffirmation of York's BSW Program.

"Congratulations are in order for receiving reaccreditation for the full 8 years -- ending October 2029," said Dr. Maureen Becker, Dean of the School of Health Sciences and Professional Programs/Interim Dean of the School of Business and Information Systems. "I would like to acknowledge the hard work and hours that went into this reaffirmation process, and applaud all for your work as a team."

Dr. Becker added that she knows the work is not over as there is Progress Report to be submitted next year, which she knows "will further improve and strengthen our BSW Program."

York is proud to be one of only 541 reported accredited social work baccalaureate programs in the United States.

"When I heard this quote 'Accreditation is not only an indication of the quality of our education, but more importantly, of the commitment of our faculty to keeping the field of social work on the leading edge. Our students’ competencies [is] current, and our practice evidence-based.' I absolutely believe this to be true of our long-standing Social Work Program here at York College, said Dr. Becker."
