Students Make Meaningful Connections at TMCF Leadership Institute

York College students once again joined peers from across the nation at the Annual Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) Leadership Institute, a four-day experience in Washington, DC, designed to strengthen leadership skills, expand professional networks, and connect students with career opportunities.

For York participants, the Institute offers more than professional development. A highlight is the recruitment fair, where representatives from leading corporations and government agencies meet with students, conduct interviews, and offer internships and full-time positions. Over the years, several York students have secured internships and career opportunities through connections made at the Institute.

Students currently attend under the guidance of Mondell Sealy, manager of Career Services. In addition to workshops, networking, and career-building activities, participants enjoy a formal gala; and travel expenses are generally covered.

My journey with TMCF has already provided me with experiences that have had a significant impact on my professional development

, said Felicia Emina, TMCF Yard Ambassador. “I had the privilege of attending the TMCF Leadership Institute in both 2025 and 2026.”
