Students Attend Deloitte Future Accounting Leaders Summit in Texas

Twenty-three first- and second-year York students majoring in accounting attended the Future Accounting Leaders Summit, held at Deloitte University in Westlake, Texas, and hosted by Deloitte*.

Professor Chaitanand Radhamohan, who was the faculty member accompanying the students,  had this to say about the Deloitte program.

"This experience enabled our students to immerse themselves in information and resources regarding the accounting profession," said Professor Radhamohan. "We are very grateful for Deloitte's program."

The Future Accounting LeadersSummit is designed to inspire early college students, particularly first- and second-year students, to explore careers in accounting by highlighting the breadth and depth of the profession, the Future Accounting Leaders Summit  brought together students and their faculty from across the country to connect with Deloitte leaders and gain insight into the accounting industry.

During the Future Accounting Leaders Summit, students had the opportunity to network with Deloitte professionals, participate in interactive accounting-focused sessions, engage with current industry topics, collaborate with peers from across the country, and hear from speakers.

Students also were enthusiastic and appreciative of the experience. "My experience at  the Summit was truly a developmental journey," said Shaneal Dean, a York College sophomore. "I had the opportunity to challenge myself beyond my usual comfort zone and connected with various students and industry leaders. It was an inspiring moment, hearing firsthand the different journeys and experiences that shaped Deloitte professionals into who they are today. I also gained valuable insight into the accounting profession."

Roopa Narine, also a sophomore, got a glimpse of her future from her attendance. "My experience at the Summit has been truly inspiring,” she said. "The mentorship and the opportunity to engage with professionals who generously shared their journeys and insights have strengthened my motivation and determination to one day become part of the  accounting profession. The collaborative environment and exposure to real-world challenges have further fueled my passion for continuous growth, both academically and professionally.

"It was inspiring to see the level of our students' engagement in their sessions. I believe that the Future Accounting Leaders Summit opened the eyes of York students in recognizing that the journey in accounting goes beyond numbers."
