SEEK Students 'Rep Their Roots' at Annual SEEK Meet

The SEEK Department kicked off the new academic year with its annual SEEK Meet, bringing together 378 students, York College President Dr. Claudia V. Schrader, faculty, and SEEK staff for an afternoon of connection, celebration, and community.

This year’s theme, “Rep Your Roots,” honored the diverse cultures, backgrounds, and experiences that define the SEEK community. Students proudly showcased their heritage through country colors, flags, jerseys, and cultural attire, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere.

The celebration featured games and team-building activities—including an egg-and-spoon race, broomstick game, and flag game—that encouraged students to connect, collaborate, and have fun. The SEEK Meet also welcomed incoming students while giving returning scholars an opportunity to reconnect with peers and staff.

AT&T joined the celebration, giving students a chance to engage with an external partner. Overall, the event reaffirmed SEEK’s commitment to support, belonging, and student success, reminding scholars that they are part of a community that stands firmly behind them.
