Airport Community Foundation Donates $5,000 to Support York College Aviation Students

The Airport Community Foundation (ACF), a non-profit organization serving the Metropolitan New York airport community, has donated $5,000 to the York College Aviation Foundation in support of students in the Aviation Management program.

ACF, which works to bridge the gap among airport community members and promote both aviation and local neighborhoods, has become a key partner to York College in recent years. One of its signature initiatives, the Airport Community Golf Classic (ACGC), launched in 2023 and has quickly become a premier airport fundraising event. Proceeds from the ACGC support the JFK Airport Cargo Association, Kennedy Airport Airlines Management Council (KAAMCO), Council of Airline Maintenance Managers (CALMM), and the Aviation High School Education Foundation. Funds raised help those in need, provide scholarships to local students, and promote aviation careers.

The relationship between ACF and York College began when Academic Internship Manager Denecia Marshall met ACF Executive Board Member Raymond Ringston at a Port Authority airport event hosted at York College. The connection led to opportunities for York College aviation students to volunteer at ACF events, giving them valuable networking exposure within the airport community. ACF has also rented the York College field for its soccer tournament, further strengthening the partnership.

“ACF has generously donated $5,000 to the Aviation Foundation to support our students in the Aviation Management program,” said Marshall. “We thank ACF for their donation and assisting us in the advancement of our students.”
