New Beginnings Take Flight at York College Orientation

York College welcomed hundreds of incoming students last Wednesday during its highly anticipated New Student Orientation. The event served as an exciting and informative introduction to college life, equipping new Cardinals with valuable resources, insight, and a sense of community as they prepared to embark on their academic journey.

Students had the opportunity to hear welcoming remarks from Dr. Karen Williams, Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, along with a special address from President Claudia Schrader. Representatives from Career Services, Academic Advisement and Scholarship Center, the Office of Diversity and Compliance, Student Wellness and Resources and the Office of First-Year Experience and Mentoring offered essential advice, shared important campus information, and reassured students that they are supported every step of the way. While there was much shared, it wasn’t all about information—York made sure the day was just as fun as it was educational. Students participated in engaging activities like trivia, Squid Game-inspired challenges, and even a relaxing yoga and meditation session sponsored by The Counseling Center.

To wrap up the day, York hosted a Cardinal Fair, showcasing a wide array of student clubs and various student support areas. It gave new students a chance to explore their interests, meet club leaders, and get inspired to get involved on campus when the semester begins.

The New Student Orientation proved to be the perfect launchpad for incoming students, blending knowledge, connection, and excitement to mark the beginning of an unforgettable college experience.
