A special celebration was held recently in honor of Abi-Gail Brown, Ridhi Benny-Mangal, and Audra Bon-Sealey, the proud graduates of the Master’s Nursing Program. The event, marked by a warm and welcoming atmosphere, began with a hot breakfast in the Faculty Dining Room and heartfelt speeches that recognized the hard work, dedication, and accomplishments of these three exceptional students.
President Claudia V. Schrader, Provost Derrick Brazill, and Dean Maureen Becker opened the celebration with congratulatory remarks. Each expressed their deep appreciation for the graduates’ perseverance and commitment to excellence in nursing education. They acknowledged the significance of this achievement not only for the students but also for the institution, as it reflects the strength and impact of the program
Valerie Taylor-Hasslip, the founder of the Master’s Nursing Program, was also present to show her support. She shared personal reflections on her journey through a master’s program in nursing during her college years, emphasizing how unique and impactful this current program is. “I attended a master’s nursing program during my college years, but nothing like this,” Valerie stated, highlighting the evolution and excellence of the initiative she helped launch.
The graduates expressed sincere gratitude for the support they received throughout their journey. They described their experience in the program as “wonderful,” noting the valuable lessons, a strong sense of community, and the professional growth they achieved. The celebration was not only a recognition of academic success but also a moment to reflect on the journey, the people who supported it, and the promising future ahead for these new nursing leaders.
