Student Showcases Research at The 9th Annual NNYC Epidemiology Forum Conference
Public Health Student Presents Epidemiological Research
Tsehay Gebreyes, a Public Health student at York College, presented an insightful poster titled "Knowledge and Attitudes of NYC Park-goers about Harmful Algae Blooms" at the 9th Annual NYC Epidemiology Forum Conference. The conference took place on June 5, 2023, at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Her research, which was produced in collaboration with colleagues from Borough of Manhattan Community College and Medgar Evers College, received a high level of interest and praise. Gebreyes's study provided an essential exploration into the awareness and understanding of New York City residents about the potential health impacts of harmful algae blooms, thereby contributing to the broader field of public health. Participation in these events offers not only a chance for students to share their research, but also to learn, network, and gain exposure in the academic community. Tsehay's dedication to her research, coupled with the support and collaborative efforts of her CUNY colleagues, demonstrates the power of true interdisciplinary teamwork. The York College community is incredibly proud!
