Mobility Devices Policy Update at York College
The use of skateboards, bicycles, electric scooters and e-bikes on York College property is prohibited for the safety of pedestrians. In addition, e-bikes and scooters must not be stored inside campus buildings due to fire hazards. This policy applies to all students, faculty, staff, and visitors of York College.
Operating any of these devices on campus property is strictly prohibited except by authorized Public Safety personnel. Individuals using such devices must, upon arriving at campus, stop using the device and walk or carry the device on campus grounds. These devices may be secured to designated bike racks in the Academic Core plaza or near 160th street and the classroom building. Attaching these items to campus fences or light poles is not permitted.
Anyone found operating any of these devices on campus property will be informed of this policy and may face disciplinary action or removal from the premises if they fail to comply. Public Safety reserves the right to confiscate any e-scooters, bicycles, skateboards, or e-bikes found inside campus buildings and take appropriate actions as determined by the college.
This policy is effective as of Monday, January 2, 2023, and may be revised by Public Safety at any time. We appreciate your cooperation. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at 718-262-2222.
