York Asst. Professor Elected Board Member of SHAPE America

The Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) recently announced that Dr. Victor Ramsey, has been elected to serve as a Board Member of the organization.

Dr. Ramsey is in heady company amongst a list of other faculty and administrators from colleges and universities across the United States, including University of Nebraska at Kearney, North Dakota State University and University of North Colorado. 

As a national spokesperson for SHAPE America, Dr. Ramsey will promote "well-designed physical education, physical activity and health education programs; and will lend expertise to tackle the growing epidemic of physical inactivity in children and the importance of physical activity for everyone." 

Professor Ramsey has been affiliated with SHAPE America since his undergraduate days at York College. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Physical Education, he began teaching. In his career of more than 32 years, he has been a physical education teacher, dean of students, assistant principal, and regional director for fitness and physical education. Along the way he also earned a graduate degree from Brooklyn College and a doctorate degree in curriculum and instruction from Columbia University.

In his current role as educational administrator, Dr. Ramsey trains and supports health and physical educators. He recently served as a member of SHAPE America’s EDI Committee and Recruitment and Retention Task Force. He also currently serves on the Board of Directors for the New York State Associate of Physical Education. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance.
