Builds On Governor's Announcement That MTA Subway Stations Will Offer Covid-19 Testing Starting Next Week

Governor Kathy Hochul today announced 13 new State testing sites to address the recent surge in COVID-19 cases. These sites are aimed to provide additional testing options in areas of high need throughout the New York City, Long Island, Central New York, North Country, Finger Lakes, Mohawk Valley, and Southern Tier regions.

"To get through this winter surge and protect New Yorkers, we will use every tool at our disposal," Governor Hochul said. "By mobilizing testing sites throughout the state, we will make sure testing is more accessible and convenient for New Yorkers. We will continue to expand testing availability to every corner of the state, evaluating where more capacity and additional sites are needed soon."

Sites are currently being mobilized with all locations slated to open on December 29, 2021. Days and hours of operation will vary depending upon the location of the site and each will offer tests by appointment, as well as walk-ins. Upon launch, all sites will offer RT-PCR testing. Rapid antigen and rapid PCR tests will also be available within a few days of opening.

Starting on Monday, December 27, New Yorkers can make an appointment for a COVID-19 test at one of these locations.

BioReference Laboratories Executive Chairman Jon R. Cohen, M.D. said, "It is a privilege to work with Governor Hochul as she continues to effectively lead New York through this phase of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are working diligently to open these sites as soon as possible to help provide the most convenient and accessible COVID-19 testing to New Yorkers during this unprecedented, rapid increase in testing demand."
