York College Jazz Band presents 2021: A Telematic Odyssey

The event will feature the music of Chet Baker, Duke Ellington, Eddie Harris, Herbie Mann, Peggy Lee, Sonny Rollins, and T-Bone Walker. May 12, 7 pm.

The event will feature the music of Chet Baker, Duke Ellington, Eddie Harris, Herbie Mann, Peggy Lee, Sonny Rollins, and T-Bone Walker.

Since December 2019, the York College Jazz Band has not been able to rehearse nor perform together in person due to the pandemic. But new, innovative technology has made it possible for the band to rehearse remotely this spring, using a low-latency platform that allows the band to rehearse in-sync across the internet. Over the course of the semester, members of the band have worked with this newly developed technology, allowing the band to present its first concert in a year and a half.

Join the band via Zoom this Wednesday, May 12th @ 7 p.m. for an exciting experience, where each member of the York College Jazz Band will perform telematically in real-time via the internet. In addition to being a live performance, the concert will allow audience members to applaud and meet the band after the performance. The unique, two-way environment will approach what it feels like to be in the room with a band.
