York College is proud to host a two-day professional development workshop series designed to empower in-service and student-teaching physical education (PE) teachers with the skills and knowledge to better serve students with disabilities in inclusive PE settings.
Led by five nationally recognized experts in the field of Adapted Physical Education, this free training opportunity covers:
- APE advocacy and certification
- IDEA’s 13 disability categories
- Universal Design for Learning (UDL) & differentiated instruction
- Behavior management strategies
- Equipment adaptation & disability sports
- Assessment and instructional planning
Participants will receive a certificate of completion for professional development hours, engage in hands-on activities, and connect with a growing network of inclusive educators across New York City.
These workshops are part of a research study funded by York College’s Faculty Strategic Initiative Grant.
All registered participants will be asked to complete a short pre-workshop and post-workshop survey. A small number of attendees may also be invited to a follow-up interview.

If you prefer not to be included in the study, please do not register for this workshop.
There is no penalty for choosing not to participate, and similar workshops may be offered in non-research formats in the future.
