Latin American Writers Series

As part of the "Latin American Writers Series" organized by the Spanish Program in the World Languages Department, the Span 210 class-Spanish Linguistics- will receive the visit of Colombian academic and writer Carolina Chaves-O'Flynn.

Dr. Chaves-O’Flynn will discuss about the representation of the feminine in the Dictionary of colombianisms (2018), and will demonstrate, through the reading of dictionary’s entries, the ideological contradictions between the search for reconciliation through institutional productions such as the dictionary and the grammars, and the reproduction of micro-violence through the dictionary’s entries.
