CUNY Dance Initiative Workshop: Waacking

Free and open to all students, faculty, staff.  

The Essence Experience is curated to improve not only the students’ technique but also, find the ways that best suit them to express Waacking while keeping in mind its cultural and social background.  The EE gears the students to find their essence, improve their freestyle, reconnect with their power, and help them become stronger dancers, and better Waackers. Expressing truthfully is always the goal in the EE course.

Nubian Néné weaves her own style, shaped by street and club dances she’s practiced for over 20 years. A choreographer, dancer, teacher, visual artist, and event producer with Haitian roots, she's been mentored by Street/Club dance elders who have cultivated her commitment to cultural awareness and community engagement.
