No. The York Emergency Fund provides grants, not loans. You do not need to repay the funds. However, you will be asked to provide a statement later on how the funds helped you stay in school.

Life happens. The York Emergency Fund provides emergency cash grants (up to $3,000) to students in good academic standing who are facing unforeseen financial crises. Whether it's housing insecurity, a natural disaster, or a sudden loss of income, we are committed to ensuring these setbacks don't stop you from completing your degree.
What Is Covered?

- Utility Disruptions: Overdue bills or shut-off notices.
- Housing Insecurity: Eviction notices or urgent housing needs.
- Public Transit: MetroCard or bus fare if you cannot afford to get to campus.
- Family Emergencies: Travel for illness/death or unexpected childcare costs.
- Loss of Income: Recent unemployment affecting basic needs.
❌ Not Covered
- Tuition & Fees: We cannot pay for class credits.
- Personal Vehicles: No gas, insurance, car payments, or Uber/Lyft.
- Non-Essentials: Credit card debt or elective medical procedures.
- Legal Fees: Costs for legal representation.
- Pre-existing Debt: Personal loans or student loans.

Important Applicant Agreement
By applying, you acknowledge that this is a one-time award for non-recurring emergencies. You agree to provide a follow-up statement on how the grant helped you continue your studies. Falsification of information will void the application and may result in disciplinary action.
