Join Dr. Joseph Malkevitch as he speaks about Codes to Correct Deletion Errors. The abstract for this talk follows: Strings of binary (0 or 1) digits can be used to code information in a text file, photo or streaming video. After an introduction to binary error correction codes I will discuss binary codes that can correct error deletions. Compared with codes where a 0 gets changed to a 1 or a 1 to a zero, little is known about error deletion codes. No prior knowledge is required.
