I am passionate about making the US health care system more equitable through policy, advocacy, teaching, and research. I wrote my dissertation on the impact of the 45th presidential administration on immigrant communities in California. I love working with students to better understand why our health care system works so poorly for so many. While at the New York Immigration Coalition, I co-led the Coverage4All campaign, which is working to win health insurance coverage for all New York State residents regardless of immigration status. I also served on the 2015 Mayor’s Taskforce on Immigrant Health Access that made recommendations that ultimately resulted in the creation of the NYC Care program.
