Dr. Azzie Forbes was born in Chicago IL, but has called Brooklyn, NY, home since 2013. She serves as a Doctoral lecturer and the Director of the BS (Social Work) Practicum Program. She holds a DSW in social work and is a Licensed Social Worker. Her dissertation, entitled “Age & Resiliency: Defining Resiliency in Young Adults Ages 18 to 21” examines resiliency in the young adult population and aims to assist them in becoming more resilient over time through the use of her resiliency plan. Dr. Forbes is known for her work with the young adult population in non-profit organizations around NYC and her curriculum creation. Prior to joining the faculty at York College, she directed two Young Adult Borough Centers (Alternative High Schools) in Queens NY.
