Dr. Azzie Forbes was born in Chicago IL but has called Brooklyn NY home since 2013. She serves as a Doctoral Lecture and the Director of BSSW Social Work Practicum Education in the Department of Social Work. She holds a Ph.D. in social work and is a License Social Worker. Her dissertation entitled “Age & Resiliency: Defining Resiliency in Young Adults Ages 18 to 21” examines resiliency in the young adult population and aims to assist them in becoming more resilient over time through the use of her resiliency plan. Dr. Forbes is known for her work with the young adult population in non-profit organizations around NYC and her curriculum creation. Prior to joining the faculty at York College, she directed two Young Adult Borough Centers (Alternative High Schools) in Queens NY.
