Our Programs
Foundational Education and Training
The Learning Center offers instruction in Adult Basic Education (ABE), English as a Second Language (ESL), English Language and Personal Care Aide (PCA)/Home Health Aide Instruction (HHA), and High School Equivalency (HSE) preparation.
The Learning Center is a designated Literacy Zone (Literacy for Life) and coordinates with local partners in providing referrals for students and community members to an array of lifelong services, including housing, immigration, legal concerns, government-sponsored social services, and more. Educational case management and academic advisement are offered by our multi-lingual staff, in addition to career counseling, job training referrals, and pre-college counseling.
The Learning Center offers adults and older youth (aged 19 and older) the opportunity to continue their education by improving their language, literacy, math, and technology skills, attain a High School Equivalency Diploma, and participate in college and career readiness sessions.

Educational and Career Advising
Educational and vocational advising services are offered by multi-lingual staff. Referrals to child care services also are available.
- Career Advisement consists of computer-based career exploration, pre-employment counseling, i.e., resume preparation, interviewing skills, and job search are provided.
- Job Training Referrals to free training programs, including Queens Workforce1 Career Center and SUNY Queens Educational Opportunity Center.
- Literacy Services are coordinated with community partners, providing referrals for students and community members to an array of lifelong learning services.
- Pre-College Advising is offered through College and Career Knowledge (CCK) workshops, college application assistance, admissions, financial counseling, and college tours.

The Learning Center has transitioned back to in-person services (effective September 19, 2022). All students must show proof of full vaccination status in order to participate in our programs.
