- The CUNY Pipeline Program brought to you by the Office of Educational Opportunity and Diversity Programs (OEODP) at the Graduate Center – CUNY Undergraduates from underrepresented groups interested in pursuing the Ph.D. in preparation for college-level teaching and advanced research in any discipline except law, business, and medicine are encouraged to apply. Along with a stipend of $3,850, students will also receive reimbursement for the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) fee. The amount of financial support available to each Pipeline student is over $4,000.

The CUNY Pipeline Program For Careers In College Teaching And Research:
Program Structure Spring Semester Of Junior Year
Eligibility requirements: (1) U.S. citizen or permanent resident; (2) junior enrolled in one of CUNY’s senior colleges who has earned at least 80 credits; (3) minimum GPA of 3.2; (4) an interest in college teaching and research.
March - May (at the Home Campus)
- Identify the faculty mentor
- Complete the Pipeline thesis proposal
Summer Pre-Senior Year
June - July (Summer Institute begins on the first Monday in June and continues for
six weeks at the Graduate Center - CUNY)
- Research Seminar in either the Social Sciences or Humanities
- Graduate School Application Workshop (Grad School 101)
- Critical Thinking and Writing Workshop
- GRE Preparation (Kaplan course)
Senior Year
September – December (at the Home Campus and the Graduate Center)
- Attend monthly Pipeline colloquia (at the Graduate Center with Doctoral Student Mentors)
- Complete graduate school applications
- Meet regularly with the faculty mentor to consult on Pipeline thesis research
January – May (at the Home Campus and the Graduate Center)
- Work with Doctoral Student Mentor at the Graduate Center on the conference presentation
- Present thesis research at the annual CUNY Pipeline Conference
- Complete the Pipeline thesis with faculty mentor’s guidance
- Graduate from home campus with a baccalaureate degree
- Attend CUNY Pipeline Program Recognition Ceremony
