Academic Achievement Center

York College Academic Achievement Center aims to provide tutoring that assists, deepens, and enriches students’ learning and understanding of course content materials.

The staff and tutors facilitate each student achieving higher grades and ultimately making satisfactory progress to on-time graduation.  Through peer tutoring, supplemental instruction, study skills, patience, and diligence, we increase students’ satisfaction and appreciation of their educational experience at York College. 

Our mission, therefore, is to enhance students’ academic performance, deepen their satisfaction with their academic experience, and increase the retention and graduation rates at York College.

About the Academic Achievement Center

York College Academic Achievement Center provides comprehensive, centralized college-wide tutorial services to all York College registered students.  The Center academically supports students at all levels and in all disciplines except English which is supported at the Writing Center and Foreign Languages.

The Center’s knowledgeable, courteous and caring tutors encourage higher levels of thinking and learning, offer an individualized, systematic, and structured learning experience, motivate self paced and self-directed learning,  increase understanding of course content materials, increase studying and learning strategies, and assist in improving grades, retention, and graduation rates.

The Writing Center and Academic Achievement Centers will soon be open for tutoring. Tutoring in all subject areas except Foreign Languages. The Academic Achievement Center will open on Tuesday, September 8.

Students may schedule or drop in for 50 minute sessions.

Hours of Operation:

  • Monday – Thursday: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm
  • Friday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Saturday: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
