Trio Student Support Services/York Enrichment Services student Precious Locke has gained acceptance into the Master’s of Public Administration/Human Resource Management program at John Jay College. Ms. Locke is an Interdisciplinary Studies major with a minor in Gerontology and will graduate this June, 2013. Although she was redirected from her original career path in occupational therapy, she saw Public Administration as the opportunity to help people in another way. When she learned of her acceptance to John Jay College, she was shocked and overwhelmed with joy. She has taken advantage of virtually all services provided by the programs; from tutoring, academic skills workshops, academic and graduate school advisement, to personal counseling, the textbook library and computer lab.
Ms. Locke’s skills have also been enhanced by resume building workshops, mock interviews, and professional development offered by the Career Services Center. Hard work, diligence and patience have brought her to this point in her academic life at York College, but she also credits the services she has received from the Trio Student Support Services/York Enrichment Services programs as well as Career Services. She states, “Never give up; stay focused and motivated to reach your highest potential.”
