Running for SGA

Cami Melson

cami.melson@yorkmail.cuny.edu

I am a social justice activist, Senior Journalism major, and Captain of the Women’s Basketball Team. I am honored to be running for a Senator’s seat on SGA, and truly appreciate all who signed my petition to get me here. The only reason I am running is to bring more representation for all types of students. I want to meet the needs and wants of students who often go unheard. I will work to create change in systems that negatively affect students and find ways to spread light during these difficult times.

Pamela Garcia is a Political Science major who is running for SGA Senator to represent scholars in matters that will enhance and advance their college experience and education. Pamela has dedicated her college career to service by organizing students as Vice President of the York Political Science Club where she facilitated meetings and assisted in workshops to engage students. Pamela is a York College Newspaper Staff Writer for Pandora’s Box where she has the opportunity to write about issues impacting students and inform the student body on current stories making local and national headlines. Always thinking of ways to help her fellow colleagues Pamela created S.H.A.R.E. which stands for Students Helping And Reminding Each Other during study sessions. This peer-to-peer process allowed students to share ideas in conjunction with information to better understand course material in preparation for exams and class projects.

If you vote for Pamela you will get a Senator who is passionate about helping others, creating optimistic opportunities for students, and committed to working alongside students as well as faculty to address and advance agendas on behalf of all York College Students.

Be the change you wish to see in the world" I strongly believe this, and it only takes one, I'm tired of sitting by the sidelines. I am running for student senate, not for me but for all of us. I strongly believe that actions speak louder than words, and tired of all the "We are going to do this or that" I am a firm believer in keeping promises and getting things done, if you vote for me as your student body senator, I will see to it that things do start to change for the better, and I know it will. I can't do this without you guys and I'm not planning on doing so, come and vote, not just for me, but for those who you feel can make a change.
