To become a judge of the NYC Metro and NY Long Island Junior Sciences and Humanities Symposium.
Dear Prospective Judges:
York College of the City University of New York has been selected by the National Science Teachers Association to organize and host the 2021 New York City Metro and NY Long Island regional Junior Science Humanities Symposium (NYCM JSHS and NYLI JSHS). The NYCM JSHS and NYLI JSHS will select the students who will represent their respective regions to the National Junior Science and Humanity Symposium organized by the Academy of Applied Sciences.
All high school students’ grades 9-12 from NY Long Island and NYC Metropolitan areas are eligible to participate in the symposium. All students must submit a research paper that will be reviewed and evaluated by college faculty and practicing scientists and engineers. The students who submit the best papers will be invited to participate in the Symposium to make a short seminar presentation on February 7, 2021 (12-minute presentation, 6-minute question, and answers).
Judging committees comprised of college faculty and practicing scientists and engineers, following the guidelines of the Academy of Applied Sciences, will evaluate the presentations and select the high school students (junior scientists) who will represent New York City Metro and NY Long Island regions on the National Symposium. High school students will be eligible for awards according to the National Science Teachers Association policies.
