Fundamentals of Speech Communication

SPCH101 (Liberal Arts) Fundamentals of Speech Communication 3 hrs. 3 crs. This course introduces students to the speech communication discipline through intrapersonal, interpersonal, and public speaking levels of speech communication. In addition, this course will illustrate persuasion and group communication as a means of making decisions in contemporary society; social problems and the formulation of propositions; the effective use of evidence, inference, motivation, and argument, with special attention given to advocacy and critical refutation; effectiveness in oral communication is stressed through speaking and discussion.
