Dr. Selena T. Rodgers, associate professor is the founding director of the M.S.W. Program at CUNY York College, making her the first African American to lead the inaugural graduate social work program in Queens, New York within the City University of New York. Her research includes historical trauma and posttraumatic growth (PTG) and publications in scholarly platforms with emphasis on structural oppression through an intersectional lens. She is a U.S. Fulbright Scholar and has served as an expert evaluator for both the Romanian and U.S. Fulbright Commissions. Prior to joining York, Professor Rodgers, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW-R), spent over a decade providing culturally competent, mental health services for adolescents with experiences of violence and sexual trauma and as an administrator for the largest victim-assistance agency in the United States. She earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Syracuse University and PhD from Adelphi University.
