Dr. Margarett Alexandre joined York College in Fall 2012. A Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine and Jonas Scholar Alumna, her areas of expertise includes Medical/Surgical Nursing and Nursing Administration. Her research interest involves disability in the post 2010 Haiti Earthquake. Other interests includes student mentoring and community initiatives both nationally and internationally. She also shares a great interest in transcultural nursing education, service-learning and active learning strategies. In the fall of 2012, she played a key role for the development of the first nursing elective and global nursing course. This course affords students and faculty to work alongside healthcare professionals locally and globally. She is also actively engaged in a research study addressing the incidence of hypertension among college students throughout the metropolitan area, as well as a collaborative study investigating mental health and sleep in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
