Lillian R. Kaplan PhD, OTR/L, completed her doctorate in Neuropsychology from the Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY) and holds Master Degrees in Motor Learning (Neuromotor Process) and Psychology from Columbia University and Queens College, CUNY respectively. She received her BS in Occupational Therapy from New York University, and remains licensed and board certified as a practitioner. As associate professor and Chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy (OT) at York College, she teaches neuroanatomy and cognitive neuroscience, advanced activity analysis, pediatrics OT and motor learning. A primary focus of her research has been to explore aspects of attention required for daily living, particularly those involved in complex skill acquisition (motor learning). Attention in complex skill learning is explored from a typical life span perspective, as well as in Alzheimer disease, an established disorder of attention mechanisms.
